Prime Minister and Conservative leader of the United Kingdom, Theresa May have resigned today.
After giving an open statement at Downing Street where she talked about her duty to the people of the United Kingdom even after their departure from the European Union (EU), she further said that sadly she had failed in securing their best interest in protecting jobs, security and their union because sadly MP’s had refused to back the deals made after she had tried three times.
She further stated that it is now clear to her that it is in the best interest of the country for a new prime minister to lead.
She will resign as the leader of the conservative and unionist party on Friday the 7th of June so that a new successor can be chosen.
The process of electing a new leader would begin in the following week.
She went on to say that her Majesty the Queen is fully aware of her intentions to resign.
