Some protesters under the aegis of The Faithful, a group of clergymen,on Tuesday, October 9, stormed the streets of Jos, Plateau state to protest the killings in the state. The protesters who shutdown commercial activities in the popular Jos city called for the prosecution of those behind these killings. The protesters, also want owner of the deadly mining pond in Dura Du, where the car belonging to the missing General Idris Alkali (rtd) was found arrested and prosecuted.
While the protesters were intercepted by a team of Mobile Police men on their way to the palace of Gbong Gwom of Jos for security reasons, the convener of the group, Rotdunna Sekat, called for the prosecution of the former state governor of the state, Jonah Jang, as one of the brains behind the bloodletting in the town, Sekat said:
“We do not want to be a party to the shedding of innocent blood that is today crying ceaselessly to God from Plateau so we took time to search ourselves and search on behalf of the good people of the state for we know that we the people of Plateau state are not collectively evil.”
It would be recalled that Alkali, the immediate past chief of administration, Army Headquarters, Abuja, was declared missing on September 3. He was said to have gone missing on his way to Bauchi after leaving Abuja in the morning.
